K FACTOR singer, songwriter Kenneth Khenana Shongwe delivers passionate vocals and consuming harmonies in isiZulu over a sparse Afropop instrumental with strong elements of soul.
His single Lephupho limnande, meaning Beautiful Dream, deals with Zulu Culture as a subject and K FACTOR’s lively delivery reflects his engaging, energetic personality, inspiring audiences with hope and motivation.
Born in Katlehong, Johannesburg and raised in Nkandla, KwaZulu Natal he was inspired by trailblazers like ubaba Ihhashi Elimhlophe, Ringo Madlingozi and Zola 7. His musical journey started in church with the Sunday school gang and he was asked to join a school choir as well in primary and secondary school.
At the age of 14 he started writing his own songs where members of his family would often say he’s lying when he told them they were his own. They would even say they’ve heard that song on radio a couple of times. That didn’t discourage him but inspired him and gave him hope that he is as good as those playing on radio at the time.
After graduating high school, Kenneth knew that he wanted to pursue a career in music and since then wrote songs for artists nationally and internationally, as well as formed a musical group before taking the leap and going solo.
